This series explores the beauty, shape, and colour within the intricacies of mushrooms and the black women. inspired by the Fairy circle, which is a naturally forming circle comprised of mushrooms of different species and sizes and shapes. This phenomena is viewed by many cultures as mystical, magical even cursed.

These Olu Obrinin (mushroom women ) are named Osun which is another term used for mushroom within the Yoruba tribe and also the name of the state I’m from in Nigeria, as well the name of one of the main Orishas (Yoruba deity). The multiple definitions of this word, in a way mirrors the multitude of uses of the mushroom and the multifaceted nature of Black woman.
